Famous Female Architects

Nov 2, 2020 | General Information

Frank Lloyd Wright. Antoni Gaudi. Le Corbusier. Frank Gehry. Just a few widely known and highly respected names in the world of architecture.
But there are a few more names you should know – those of the most talented women in architecture. These women have been making waves for years – even decades – and are responsible for some of today’s most beautiful buildings.
In 2004, Zaha Hadid became the first female to take home architecture’s top award and is the architect behind buildings such as Daxing International Airport in Beijing. Known as one half of a successful husband and wife architectural duo, Denise Scott Brown had already made significant contributions prior to meeting Robert Venturi. Currently a professor at MIT, Neri Oxman coined the term “material ecology” to describe her work with buildings that incorporate biological components.
